One of the oldest surviving freshwater outdoor swimming pools in the UK — a beautiful natural pool in the heart of Lewes, East Sussex, fed by a natural spring and open since 1860. Pells Pool is an unheated, spring-fed lido surrounded by old trees and managed as a community resource — entirely non-profit and wonderfully unpretentious. The water is clear and cold, the setting is deeply English and the experience of swimming here feels completely removed from the modern world.
