Terms of Service

1. What Happy Place Is

Happy Place is a UK wellness discovery platform that helps users find wellness experiences including saunas, yoga studios, spas, retreats, wild swimming spots, cold plunge, meditation, hiking, and massage. We connect users with wellness businesses and earn commission when users click through to book via our affiliate partners (Booking.com, Treatwell, GetYourGuide). We do not process bookings ourselves and are not a party to any booking you make with a business.

2. Your Account

2.1 Registration

To access certain features (saving favourites, writing reviews, and viewing your wishlist), you must create a free account. You agree to provide accurate information including your name and email address, and to keep your account details up to date.

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that takes place under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at josh@happyplaceuk.com.

2.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, misuse the Platform, or engage in any harmful or dishonest activity. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.

3. Using Happy Place

3.1 Permitted Use

You may use Happy Place to:

• Discover and explore wellness experiences in the UK
• Save favourites to your wishlist
• Write honest reviews of businesses you have visited
• Click through to book with our affiliate partners

3.2 Prohibited Use

You must not:

• Submit false, misleading, or defamatory reviews
• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to scrape, copy, or replicate our listings data
• Interfere with or disrupt the Platform’s infrastructure
• Create multiple accounts or impersonate another person
• Use automated tools to access or interact with the Platform without our permission

4. Reviews

By submitting a review, you confirm that you have personally visited or used the business you are reviewing, and that your review is honest and accurate. We reserve the right to remove reviews that we believe are fake, abusive, defamatory, or in breach of these Terms. Reviews become publicly visible on the Platform and may be read by businesses and other users.

You grant Happy Place a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your reviews on the Platform.

5. Affiliate Links and Bookings

Happy Place earns commission when you click through to book with our affiliate partners. This does not affect the price you pay. When you click a booking link, we log the listing ID, your user ID (if logged in), the destination URL, and a timestamp to our internal database. This data is used solely for commission attribution and is not shared with the destination business.

All bookings are made directly with the third-party provider. Happy Place is not responsible for:

• The accuracy of availability or pricing shown on partner websites
• Any issues arising from your booking
• The quality of the experience you book
• Cancellation or refund policies of the provider

Any disputes about a booking should be taken up directly with the business or booking platform you used.

6. Business Listings

6.1 Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to ensure listings are accurate, but we do not guarantee that information such as opening hours, pricing, or availability is up to date. Always check directly with the business before visiting.

6.2 Claiming a Listing

If you are a business owner and wish to claim or manage your listing on Happy Place, you may do so through our business dashboard. By claiming a listing, you agree that you are authorised to represent that business and that the information you provide is accurate.

6.3 Featured Listings

Businesses may pay to have their listing featured or promoted on the Platform. Featured listings are clearly marked. Paid promotion does not affect the authenticity of reviews or the neutrality of our editorial content.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on Happy Place including the design, logo, text, and code is owned by Happy Place UK or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Platform without our written permission.

User-generated content (such as reviews) remains your property, but you grant us a licence to display it on the Platform as described in section 4.

8. Location Data and Maps

If you use the Explore Near Me feature, you will be asked to share your device location. This is optional and used solely to show you nearby wellness experiences. Location data is processed in your browser session and not stored beyond that session.

Map tiles are provided by Mapbox (a US company). Postcode and place-name searches are processed via Nominatim/OpenStreetMap — no personal data is sent, only the postcode or place name you type.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Happy Place is provided on an “as is” basis. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to: a business being unavailable when you visit, a booking going wrong, or reliance on inaccurate listing information.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Third-Party Services

Happy Place uses the following third-party services which have their own terms and privacy policies:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (EU region)
• Mapbox — map tiles and geocoding
• PostHog — product analytics (EU hosting)
• Nominatim/OpenStreetMap — postcode geocoding
• Booking.com, Treatwell, GetYourGuide — affiliate booking partners

We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of any significant changes. Continued use of the Platform after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
